A brief history

Centennial was officially incorporated as a city in 2001, but its roots stretch back much further. Originally part of the expansive lands of the Arapaho and Cheyenne tribes, the area saw growth and development as settlers arrived in the mid-19th century. Named for the U.S. Centennial celebration in 1876, Centennial was originally a part of the larger city of Greenwood Village before becoming its own municipality. Today, the city is known for its modern amenities, excellent schools, and thriving economy.
